Ilford Delta 100 Pro

Nominal ISO 100
B&W negative B&W In production

Ilford Delta 100 Professional is a medium-speed, ISO 100 black-and-white negative film designed for photographers who demand maximum resolution, fine detail, and exceptional image clarity. Using Ilford’s modern Core-Shell crystal technology, it offers virtually imperceptible grain and ultra-sharp edge definition, making it ideal for large-format prints and high-resolution digitizations. Engineered for versatility under bright, controlled lighting conditions, Delta 100 excels across landscape, architectural, portrait, and commercial fine-art photography. It features a nominal sensitivity of ISO 100/21° and processes seamlessly in standard B&W chemistry, yielding reliable tonal control and excellent push/pull flexibility ranging from ISO 50 to 200.

Character

Unlike classic, cubic-grain emulsions like FP4 Plus, Delta 100 delivers a crisp, modern visual aesthetic. Its look is defined by smooth, realistic tonal transitions, deep clean blacks, and vivid highlights without harsh clipping.

  • Grain Structure: Exceptionally fine, tight, and uniform. Images retain remarkable clarity even when significantly enlarged.

  • Sharpness & Resolving Power: Very high edge contrast (acutance), capturing microscopic details in textures, foliage, and architectural lines.

  • Contrast & Latitude: Medium, balanced contrast with a smooth linear response. It records wide dynamic ranges smoothly, provided exposure is precise.

  • Aesthetic Signature: Clean, precise, and contemporary—less "vintage film grit" and more neutral, lifelike precision.

Panchromatic — what this means

Sensitive to the whole visible spectrum, so colours turn into greys roughly the way the eye weighs them. This is what almost every general-purpose black and white film is. It has to be loaded and developed in complete darkness — no safelight is safe for it.
