Quick answers first. If yours is not here, write to us — a person reads every message.
Where do the development times come from?
Every time in the app is a maker’s or a published chart’s, and the app shows the datasheet it came from, so you can check it. Nothing is estimated or averaged. The same reference is on 35mm.org, where each film and developer has its own page.
Why is the push, pull or temperature I want not listed?
The app offers only what somebody has published. If no maker or chart gives a time for your film, developer and speed, the app does not invent one — a guessed time costs a roll. The temperature and reused-developer corrections appear only where a published rule exists. If you know a source, send it (see “How do I report a mistake?”).
Does the app work without a signal?
Yes. The whole catalogue is stored on the phone, and the timer, notebook and lessons need no connection. When there is one, the app checks 35mm.org for a newer catalogue by itself. A “How did it come out?” report written in the darkroom waits on the phone and is sent later.
Is red mode a safelight?
No. Red mode only dims the screen and turns it red so it is easier on your eyes in a dark room. A phone screen is not a safelight, and it is not safe for paper or unprocessed film. Keep film in its tank, and keep the screen away from paper.
How do I report a mistake?
Open the film, or the film and developer, on 35mm.org and use “Suggest a time or report a mistake” at the foot of the page. A curator checks it against the source, and nothing you send is shown on the site by itself. Inside the app, “How did it come out?” after a development tells us when a published time gave a thin or dense negative.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no account, no sign-in and no advertising. Your rolls and chemistry stay on your devices.
How do I move my rolls to a new phone, or keep them safe?
Turn on iCloud sync in the app’s settings. Your rolls and chemistry are then copied between your own devices through your iCloud, and a new phone signed in to the same iCloud finds them. Without sync, they exist only on that device and in your iPhone’s own backup.
How do I delete my data?
It is on your device: delete a roll, a bottle or a recipe in the app, or delete the app, and it is gone. With iCloud sync on, deleting a record in the app also deletes it from your iCloud. We hold no copy. The only thing that can reach us is an optional, anonymous report you chose to send; see the privacy policy.
The light meter shows a different value from my meter.
Phone meters vary. Use the calibration setting in the light meter, and check it against a meter you trust — once is enough.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later, and Apple Watch with watchOS 10 or later. The app is in English; Polish and Ukrainian are coming.

Found a mistake in a time?
Open the film on 35mm.org and send a correction with its source — it goes straight to the people who keep the reference.
