These terms are the agreement between you and 35mm.org, which runs 35mm.org. They apply when you use the site and, if you make one, your account. How we handle your data is in the privacy notice.
The site
35mm.org is a reference for film photography — films, chemistry and development times, each with the source it came from — and a community for the people who shoot film. Reading the reference is free and needs no account. NegaKit, our Mac app, can connect to your account; downloading and using the app is also covered by these terms.
Your account
- You must be 16 or over to have an account.
- One account per person. Give your real email address and keep it up to date — it is how you confirm the account and get back into it.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what is done with your account, so tell us if you think someone else has used it.
- You can delete your account whenever you like, from your account page.
What you post
What you post — photographs, posts, comments, reviews, galleries — stays yours. By posting it you give us permission to store it, show it on 35mm.org and in NegaKit to the people you have chosen to show it to, and make the copies needed to do that (for example smaller versions of a photograph). This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other people have already shared within the site, such as a repost with their own words.
You promise that:
- you have the right to post it — it is your own work, or you have permission;
- people who can be recognised in your photographs are happy for them to be published;
- reviews say what you really think of something you have really used, and say so if you have a connection to the maker.
The rules
Do not use 35mm.org to post or do anything that:
- is against the law, or infringes somebody else’s rights, including copyright;
- harasses, threatens or demeans anyone, or shares their private information;
- is sexual content involving anyone under 18, or intimate images of anyone without their consent;
- is spam, advertising nobody asked for, or an attempt to mislead people;
- tries to get into accounts or parts of the site that are not yours, or to overload or disrupt the site;
- collects other members’ information, by scraping or otherwise.
Moderation
Anyone can report a post. Moderators read reports and may remove content that breaks these terms. A moderator can remove a post, but never rewrites it. If you keep breaking the rules, or break them seriously, we may suspend or close your account. Where we can, we will tell you why and give you the chance to reply.
New profiles are listed by a moderator before they appear in the directory, and how often anyone can post, comment or sign in is limited so the site cannot be flooded.
The reference
Development times and other figures are taken from makers’ datasheets and published charts, and each says where it came from. We check them with care, but mistakes happen and chemistry, water and equipment vary. Treat a time as a starting point, check it against its source, and test before trusting a roll that matters. If you spot a mistake, please tell us.
NegaKit
NegaKit is offered as it is, and versions marked as tests or previews may have faults. Keep your own copies of your scans and negatives: no software, ours included, should be the only place your work exists.
Our responsibility
We work to keep the site running and your content safe, but we cannot promise that it will always be available or free of faults. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that are not a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where the law does not allow it to be limited, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.
Changes
We may change these terms as the site changes. The date at the top says when they last changed. If a change matters, we will tell members by email or on the site before it applies; if you do not agree, you can delete your account.
