Clearing time

The time a film takes in fixer to lose its milky look and turn clear.

It is a guide to how fast and how fresh a fixer is. A common rule of thumb is to fix for a little longer than the clearing time, but the fixer’s datasheet is the authority. T-grain films tend to clear more slowly than traditional ones.
