Exposure and shooting
Stop
A doubling or halving of the amount of light.
Opening the aperture by one stop, or using a shutter speed twice as long, doubles the light reaching the film. The word is used for exposure, for film speed (200 is one stop faster than 100) and for pushing and pulling by so many stops.
