Film

Rem-jet

A dark, carbon-based backing on motion-picture film that must be removed in processing.

It serves as an antihalation layer and protects against static in the camera. In ECN-2 it is removed at the start of processing; left on a film developed in other chemistry, it can come off in the solutions and stain the film and the tank. Check a film’s page and datasheet before developing it.
